Winners, Burps, and Squirts

My father-in-law back in January got almost the entire family on board with a blog that would allow all of us to contribute and post progress on our individual journeys towards weight loss and healthy lifestyles.  When the blog started it really took off like wildfire and there was a ton of participation.  Things slowly fizzled and before I knew it the blog was dead.

The death of the above mentioned blog and my troubles in loosing weight seem to coincide. Since this time I hae had a hard time sticking to my diet and dread the Monday morning weigh ins.  I was talking to my wife last night about just how much motivation the Family Winners blog gave me and how nice it was to have so many people (family) working towards a common goal.  It created a support system as well as a certain level of accountability.

I thought that this blog would replace the former however GOZO Cycling still seems to be very anonymous.  I am the only contributor and almost never is there a comment shared (thanks to the few of you who have commented).  I see that there is traffic but I have no idea who you are and don't feel accountable to you (don't take offense to that).  I need to figure out how to motivate myself and to keep myself accountable - and then allow the blog to motivate others.

Now on a lighter note.  Do any of you take fish oil?  My doctor has asked me to take two capsols in the morning and two at night.  She told me to ease my way into that many so I started wtih one a day.  Only two days in I quit because of the burps and squirts.  I read online that it helps to freeze them and so far that has worked a little bit.  Do any of you know any tricks with fish oil (take them with food, lots of water, with bread, milk, etc.).  I am open to any and all suggestions on this one.

  1. I am one of your blog-stalkers. I have been following cycling blogs for a couple of years. Now that I have finished school, I would like to try to cycle too.

I also follow www.chubbysuperbiker.com and http://mnbicyclecommuter.blogspot.com/. I occasionally follow some others, but those two are the main ones.

I just started taking Nordic Omega-3 Fishies (http://www.nordicnaturals.com/en/Products/Product_Details/514/?ProdID=1520). I know nothing about them save my wife bought them and said "Eat these". I take one a day.

  2. Hey Michael - thanks for posting. Cycling has been a blast - I am surprised how addicted I have become. Proceed with caution, it is a slippery slope. Before you know it you'll be willing to wear SPAM Spandex in public for cycling sake. I am going to check out those blogs now. No side affects for you and the oil then I guess. It has been rough on me.

  3. Hey Jake, I am yet another stalker! Just wanna say that you have inspired me to get off my butt and dust my bike off. I am hoping to find some time in my summer off where I can get on it. Cheers to you and your already awesome accomplishment!

  4. Hey Becky thanks for stalking. The first ride was the hardest for me and then it got easier and more fun. You and Mike should go tandem! Thanks for posting.
