The difficulty of yesterday's 8 miles has motivated me to get back on track. I did much better yesterday on the diet (although I was tempted and succumbed to Krispy Kreme). Standing on the scale and seeing almost two weeks of work lost was painful too. My wife thinks I step on the scale too often but it really does help me stay on track on a day to day basis.
I only work a half day today so after helping my wife get the house cleaned I went for a ride. About ten miles in I noticed that my front tire was soft, low on air. I got off and pumped it up and checked the back tire and discovered it was low too. After pumping them up I found the ride was much easier and smoother. I need to get into a more regular habbit of checking the pressure.
About mile 13 or so I noticed another cyclist off in the distance. I increased my speed hoping to catch up and I did. I discovered as I got closer that it was again a woman on a mountain bike (not the same one as last time). I yelled out "on your left!" and wizzed by her - all she saw was blurry SPAM sandwich. I felt the restoration of my ego begin. No sooner had I passed by her did I get stuck at a red light. I did not want her to catch up to me again and have to have that awkward moment. I decided to make a right turn rather than wait around and went on my way.
