GOZOMuddering

It is not often that I am in bed after 6:30am.  The kids and cycling and spinning, and everything else that goes on in life gets me out of bed pretty early.  Today though it was something unexpected - a text message.  My first thought was "who is texting me this early?"  I first ignored it but then got a second one.  I got out of bed and found two texts from my best friend - Rodney.

I will not go into all the details because, well, some of the details are not appropriate for a family friendly blog like this.  I will get straight to the point instead.  Rodney tells me that there is a race that he is interested in doing in November, in Indiana where he lives, and that he has been motivated by me to prepare for it.  I inquired on the details of the race and was told that there was one being done by the same group in Arizona in January.  I thought it would be fun to prepare with him and see about having him come out to AZ in January.  He then gave me the name of the "race" and told me to google it.  Among many other things I found this video upon doing some research:

Are you kidding me??!?  Ice water ponds, mud, fire, electrodes - something called the "Ball Shrinker"!!!  Sounds kind of... awesome.

The things I am liking about the challenge is that it is a team effort.  You are to work with those around you to complete the challenge not to win the 'race'.  The physical requirements look doable with 6 months time to prepare.  I am starting to think this is something I could do.

I have talked to several co-workers who say they would join a team.  My little brother sounds like he might be down with it.  I need to get buy in from the other half.  She is worried that I will have a heart attach and drown in a tube.

She also has legitimate concern that I would all consumed with it and drive her crazy like I did with the 100MON.  She has told me after the baby is born (07/31/2011 due date) that it is her turn to prepare for something she wants to do.  I think though that I can prepare for this without any additional time than what I am currently spending working out.  I just need to focus on areas other than legs - which is a subject that I have covered already.

We will see.  I think one thing that might help with the buy in factor is that there is a mullett contest - my wife is a sucker for mulletts.
