Errands

I ate my lunch at my desk early today and that freed up some time during the actual scheduled lunch for some errands.  I bought the AC air filter I promised my wife I'd buy a week ago and also got her a couple of 'prizes' (from time to time she surprises me with little gifts and rather than calling them gifts she calls them prizes - weird but I love it about her).  I still had some time left when I was done with the important things and decided to stop at Sports Chalet to check out some of their cycling stuff.

I was surprised to find that they had some stuff in my size, wish they had bibs but didn't, and even more surprised to find Pearl Izumi in my size (or at least close enough to try on).  A while ago I went to a Peal Izumi outlet store and found that they did not have a single item in the store, that I found, big enough for me.  I was disappointed but figured they gear towards more hard-core cyclist who usually are not as big as I am.  I have heard such great things about them and was eager to get down to their size.

Even though I cannot afford their clothes and was on a time crunch I felt that I could not pass up the opportunity to see what all the hype was about and tried them on.  I first found and tried on a Canari jersey -  I really liked the design and fit.  I still had my work slacks on so decided to look for a pair of shorts to try on to pay proper tribute to Pearl Izumi - again was suprised to find something that fit.

I really liked both jerseys but can see, to a certain extent, why Pearl Izume is so popular.  The material is different in feel and fit and I really like how it looks.  I liked the zipper of the Canari better and like the grips on the sleeves.  I think for the purposes of selling in a box store Pearl Izumi may have skimped a bit but cannot be sure of this seeing as how this is my first time wearing them.  The shorts were great and I liked the vented mesh on the sides but would never buy shorts - I am a bib kind of guy.

Maybe, just one day, I will be able to afford Pearl Izumi - especially if on clearance - and will be at a more conducive weight to buy a kit.

Until then these pictures will have to suffice (yes I took pictures in a dressing room - don't judge).
