Spinning

I did not get any riding in this weekend.  There are good reasons for this and I am not going to go into a lot of details.  I will say though that I need to get a lot more miles in before the June Fourth 100 Miles of Nowhere.  I am finding that time is the biggest constraint at this point.  I am wanting and feel that I can get in a lot more miles but the time commitment is the most difficult part.

I am going to attempt to attend my very first ever spinning class at the local YMCA tomorrow morning.  I am excited to go and happy that the class is offered early in the morning - I can be home before the kids even wake up!

I do have a couple of questions in case any of you have any answers.  I am sure a lot of my questions will be answered tomorrow.  I am wondering:
  • Do you wear your cycling clothes?  From what I have read online some people do and some don't.  At a minimum I am going to be wearing my padded shorts.  I do not see why anyone would not.  I will most likely revert to the gym shorts over them see as how I was justifying the "non-gym short" look to aerodynamics and now that I will be indoors and stationary that is no longer and issue.  I do not see the need for a jersey either so I am thinking of just wearing a sports shirt.
  • Are there any etiquette rules I should know about?  I do not want to find myself ticking off the people that I anticipate spending a lot of time with over the next few weeks or months.  I am a newbie but want to avoid some of the newbie mistakes.
  • How early should I show up?  From what I read online I should show up early enough to make some adjustments to the bike and warm up.  Problem with this is I don't think the doors open until 5:00 am.
  • Do I introduce myself to the trainer? I am thinking yes.  Why wouldn't I?  Might as well let her know I am new and looking to learn.
We'll see how tomorrow goes and I will be sure to update you all.
