The Triathlon is in June of 2014 and consists of just under a mile swim, a 26 mile ride, and a 6 mile run (give or take - it's an Olympic distance course if that makes more sense to any of you). Some of the obstacles include:
- Weight - Unless I want to compete as a clydesdale I need to shed some pounds. Also, at 300lbs (44.2% of that fat according to my Body Composition Analysis) the only thing I do fast is eat.
- Swim - I don't know how. Well I do, but not like a triathlete.
- Run - I don't know how. Well I do, but certainly not for 6.2 miles!
- Funds - Money is tight, there is an entrance fee of $90 (as of now, it increases until race day) and I need a new pair of running shoes at minimum. I'd like to get a new jersey, buy a heart rate monitor, and rent a wet suit.
I will get more specific with my goals and how I will prepare for Deuces Wild in a future post.
Some of the family hiked to the top of Snake Hill at Patterson Pond where a time capsule was excavated and the contents shared. In 2005 and again in 2008 those who were present wrote a note to themselves with goals for the New Year. I was not there for the prior two times but it was fun to participate this year.
Go get 'em!
